National Alzheimer Conference 2019

Romanian Alzheimer Society together with Bournemouth University, presented the Erasmus+ project “Using drama and storytelling in dementia care”, during the 9th National Alzheimer Conference 2019 from Bucharest, 20-23 February 2019. 


The project manager, on behalf of Romanian Alzheimer Society detailed the activities and expected results of the project and Bournemouth University representative shared with us the scoping literature review results regarding creative drama and storytelling in dementia care. 


The scoping literature review on this topic will represent the ground for the project’s first intellectual output, the booklet “Life in a story: creative arts and storytelling use for Alzheimer Disease patients’ and carers’ support in UK, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and Ireland” and for the project future activities: the training programme that will be used by health and social care professionals involved in care with people with Alzheimer Disease; the toolkit for improving communication between family carers and persons with Alzheimer disease and the public policy to create dementia friendly communities and institutions. 


The Erasmus + project “Using drama and storytelling in dementia care” (KA2: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices, KA204: Strategic Partnerships for adult education) will be implemented during 1st October 2018 – 30th September 2020 in a transnational partnership from 5 countries (Romania, Ireland, Bulgaria, Greece and United Kingdom): Romanian Society Alzheimer; Habilitas – Centre for Resources and Professional Training; The Gaiety School of Acting, The National Theatre of Ireland; Grajdansko sdrujenie Alzheimer Bulgaria; The Greek Association of Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders (Alzheimer Hellas) and Bournemouth University, United Kingdom.
